Deutsche Bank Championship - Vegas Odds, Free Picks, + Tee Times

The top-100 players in the FedEx Cup points standings will compete in the 2014 Deutsche Bank Championship. This is the second playoff event on the schedule, starting on Thursday, August 29th through Sunday, September 1st. The field will be cut by 25 players from the first playoff event in New Jersey the week before at Ridgewood Country Club.

TPC Boston will be the venue for the 2014 Deutsche Bank Championship which is its typical location. Situated about 25 south of Boston, TPC Boston was designed by Arnold Palmer and opened in 2003. This is a golf course that will challenge all aspects of a player's game. At 7,214 yards as a Par-71, TPC Boston will offer a variety of different options to hit off of the tee. That means there will be a myriad of different approach shots into the greens.

The field gets cut from 100 players to 70 players for next week's tournament at the BMW Championship. Golf Channel will have the call for the Deutsche Bank Championship on Thursday and Friday, with NBC taking the weekend action.

TPC Boston, Norton, Massachusetts

Located just 25 miles south of Boston, TPC Boston surely stands as one of the Northeast's most esteemed golf courses. And why shouldn't it be? The course was designed by no less an authority than Arnold Palmer in 2003, and then re-resigned by Gil Hanse and Brad Faxon a few years later. The course hosts the annual Deutsche Bank Championship, a PGA Tour event.

As for the course itself, its easygoing greens mask the course's true complexity. Make no mistake that TPC Boston will put even the most assured golfer to the test, with its lush fairways giving way to 52 strategically placed bunkers.

The par-72 course is especially noteworthy for its final hole; redesigned and unveiled in 2012, the par-5 shot culminates in a small, elevated green, protected by a greenside pot bunker. It is considered by some to be among the most challenging finishing holes on the PGA Tour.

2013 Deutsche Bank Championship

After a series of close calls in some of the biggest tournaments of the season, Henrik Stenson finally broke through for his first win on the PGA Tour in 2013; and the victory was definitely a timely one. Stenson jumped up to No.1 on the FedEx Cup points standings ahead of Tiger Woods with the win.

Stenson would use this victory as momentum the rest of the way over the course of the final two playoff events, ultimately leading to him becoming the 2013 FedEx Cup champion. Stenson would go on to win the Tour Championship, giving him the season-long title in the process.
