2013 True South Classic Betting Odds + Event Info, Times, Coverage

The top players in the world will be over at the 2013 British Open, but there will also be another event held on the PGA Tour during the week of the third Major championship for those players who failed to qualify. That would be the True South Classic. The True South Classic tees off on Thursday, July 18th and goes through Sunday, July 21st and will be played at Annandale Golf Course in Madison, MS.

Golf Channel will have coverage the entire length of the week for this one, which could be tape delayed and played at night due to the extensive British Open coverage that will be provided all week long from GC. 'Live From' will air highlights and cover the Open Championship, so the True South Classic will actually take a back seat to the season's third Major.

The True South Classic

Most golf fans will be tuned into the British Open during the week of the True South Classic. After all, it's the third Major Championship of the season. But the True South Classic is home to some great play, and will be televised in the afternoon, as opposed to the British Open which will be in the morning due to the time difference in the United States.

Annandale Golf Course is a Par-72, and measures 7,199 yards in length. It has a history of yielding low scores, with players routinely needing around 20 under par or more to have a chance at winning. If you like birdies, this is certainly a fun tournament to watch.

Because of the fact the field for this event is not considered full by PGA Tour standards due to the British Open, the winner does not get 500 FedEx cup points. Instead, they receive 250 FedEx Cup points for the win, and just over $500,000.

What Happened In 2012?

The 2012 True South Classic saw some low scores throughout the week. By the end, it was Scott Stalling who won with a score of 24-under par through 72 holes. It was a two-shot win over Jason Bohn, and four shots over Billy Horschel. Stallings shot back-to-back 64s on Friday and Saturday to put him in great position to get the win. A 68 on Sunday allowed him to do just that.

Betting Odds For 2013 True South Classic

While the majority of attention in the world of golf will be paid overseas to the British Open, there will still be plenty of talent at the True South Classic that same week. Betting odds for the True South Classic will be formed the week of the tournament. The field will not be finalized likely until the completion of the John Deere Classic, as players try to get a last-minute invite into the Open Championship.

Our Picks

With the lack of notable names in the True South Classic, it will certainly make it more difficult to pick. History at the event will likely play a big role into our decision making, as those players who tend to play Annandale Golf Club well will probably get looked at the most. Expect PGABettingOdds.com to make picks the Monday or Tuesday prior to the tournament teeing off on that Thursday.

Notable Pairings

Don't expect to get the high profile matchups that will be found at other tournament during the year. The True South Classic has the unfortunate draw of being played the same week as the British Open. We're not going to have a Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy pairing in Mississippi. However, when the tee times do come out, we will be sure to take a look and let you know which ones to look at.
