2013 Tavistock Cup Odds + Event Info, TV Coverage, Who's Playing?

The Tavistock Cup is a team event that combines several prestigious golf clubs around the world. For the 2013 Tavistock Cup, there are two new editions this year, Oak Tree National GC and Primland GC. With Albany, Isleworth Golf & Country Club, Lake Nona Golf & Country Club and Queenswood Golf Club, the total of clubs competing in the event is now at six! Over the course of two days (3/25 + 3/26), the Tavistock Cup will be hosted by Isleworth in Orlando for the 2013 edition of the event.

The Golf Channel will have complete coverage of this event from the beginning to the end. The 2013 Tavistock Cup will be played Monday, March 25th and Tuesday, March 26th. The Golf Channel will carry the coverage of all of the matches live each day, as in years past the event was tape-delayed.

The Tavistock Cup

The Tavistock Cup is an officially recognized event on the PGA Tour, however there are no FedEx Cup points, or World Rankings points at stake when the players hit the tee. The Tavistock Cup is purely for pride and competition although the lowest individual score of the final round does win the Payne Stewart Salver Award in memorial of the legendary golfer who left us way too soon.

There are now six clubs which participate in the Tavistock Cup, up from the original two of Lake Nona and Isleworth back when it started in 2004. In total, there are six players from each club who participate in the competition, with the lowest aggregate total over the combination of the two days the winning score.

In 2011, the Tavistock Cup added Queenswood Golf Club (London) and Albany Golf Club (Bahamas) which busted up the Florida rivalry between the original two. That went a step further in 2013 as the event added Oak Tree National (Edmond, Oklahoma) and Primland (Meadows of Dan, Virginia) golf clubs.

While this is considered a PGA Tour event, tickets for the Tavistock Cup are not actually sold to the public. Those who follow the groups are various members of the six clubs, as well as sponsors and invited guests; only 4,000 are actually invited to attend. Most of us will have to follow this one exclusively on television.

What Happened In 2012?

The team from Lake Nona won the 2012 Tavistock Cup, finishing a combined 41-under par. That team consisted of Peter Hanson, Graeme McDowell, Gary Woodland, Ross Fisher, Retief Goosen, and Ben Curtis. Lake Nona defeated Isleworth by two strokes, Queenswood by ten and Albany by 15 strokes. Tiger Woods was formerly of Isleworth, but had become a member of Albany.

Five players in total claimed the Payne Stewart Salver Award with a -5 (67) final round which included Robert Allenby, Ernie Els, Ross Fisher, Retief Goosen, and Thomas Bjorn. 2012 was the first time that the award had been shared by five players.

Vegas Odds For The 2013 Tavistock Cup

The 2013 Tavistock Cup will be different than those in the past, because of the Monday finish at the Arnold Palmer invitational due to inclement weather. There are several players in the field who still need to complete the final round at Bay Hill, who are also then scheduled to compete in the Tavistock Cup.

Of these players, the most notable at the Arnold Palmer Invitational make up the final group. Tiger Woods and Rickie Fowler are in the last group in the final round at the 2013 Arnold Palmer Invitational. Woods will be representing Albany in the Tavistock Cup, while Fowler will be representing Oak Tree National.

An adjusted format for the 2013 event was announced on Sunday by the Tavistock organization. Play will not be canceled for the Monday competition, however the scores and points awarded will not count towards the final tally.

Instead, the Tavistock Cup format which the strokes will count will be held on Tuesday in an 18 hole singles stroke play edition. This is the typical second-day format, with the only difference now being that it will be the lone strokes that count towards the winner. The strokes for the better-ball competition on Monday will not go into the official result.

Woods and the rest of Team Albany, including Justin Rose, Ian Poulter, and Tim Clark, are favored to win the one-day format for the lowest strokes. Team Albany is set at 13/8 to capture the championship. That is under a 2 to 1 payout on the profit margin for bettors.

Lake Nona, who is represented by Graeme McDowll, Ross Fisher, Henrik Stenson, and Peter Hanson, comes in second at 3 to 1 on the betting line.

Below in our pairings section, you will find all of the players from each of the six clubs in the 2013 Tavistock Cup. As for the rest of the odds, Team Isleworth follows 5/1, with Primland 13/2, Queenwood 7/1, and Oak Tree National at 9/1.

Free Pick To Win 2013 Tavistock Cup

With the 2013 Tavistock Championship being contested at Isleworth, you have to think that the home team will be getting an advantage. However, let's not forget that Isleworth was the long-time home of Tiger Woods. As a result, Woods and Team Albany have been set at the favorites. Woods probably knows this course as well as any other, so PGABettingOdds.com definitely expects him to go out and play well. But the rest of him team might not know it as well, and that is where we think the home-course advantage comes in. Isleworth is also payign out at 5 to 1, which is a nice margin of profit for a team that will be very comfortable on this golf course. We are going to side with the four players who will be playing at home, and think that Bubba Watson, D.A Points, Brian Davis, and Bo Van Pelt get it done.
