Just a week after missing the cut at the HSBC Championship, Tiger Woods came to the Farmers Insurance Open for his 2013 PGA Tour debut. It was an event Woods skipped last season, opting instead to begin at Pebble Beach. But Woods couldn’t stay away from one of his favorite venues on the PGA Tour, in Torry Pines for very long.

Tiger Woods will play with Nick Watney and Rickie Fowler this week for the first two rounds at the Farmers Insurance Open. This will be Woods’ first event on the 2013 PGA Tour. The No.2 ranked golfer in the world did play last week at the HSBC Championship, but missed the cut by one shot.

By now, as golf fans, we should all be used to the notion that Tiger Woods will never be the same that he once was. The bar was simply set too high. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t expect a lot from Woods in the 2013 PGA Tour season.
To predict his fortune this season, let’s turn the clock back to last season, where Woods won three times on Tour after going two and a half years without a victory. He captured titles at Bay Hill, Firestone, and Congressional.

Rory McIlroy sits atop the FedEx Cup point standings going into the final event of the playoffs, the Tour Championship at East Lake Country Club in Atlanta. But the one disadvantage that McIlroy has against his closest competition, is that this will be his first trip to East Lake for the event.
Still, it’s hard to argue against McIlroy after he has played so well in the month of September, which included back-to-back wins in the playoffs. And after a week off, the top-30 in the FedEx Cup standings will tee it up at East Lake beginning on Thursday. Continue reading
