The four Major Championships for the 2013 PGA Tour season are in the books, and for the fifth-straight year none of the winners include Tiger Woods.
Woods came in with high hopes to the PGA Championship at Oak Hill this past week, fresh off of dominating the WGC Bridgestone Invitational the week before that included a round of 61 on Friday. None of that momentum carried over into the PGA Championship though, as the No.1 ranked player in the world was never a factor. Continue reading
There are just two events remaining until the start of the 2013 FedEx Cup playoffs. It just so happens that two huge events stand between now and those playoffs, which could affect the standings quite a bit.
The WGC Bridgestone Invitational gets going on Thursday while next week the PGA Championship gets underway from Oak Hill. With the top players in the world participating in both, there is the potential for plenty of movement. Continue reading
Entering the John Deere Classic this week there are just six event left for players to accumulate enough FedEx Cup points to get inside the top-125 to qualify for the first event on the playoff schedule.
But that is certainly enough time for players to get in and stamp their ticket. Just look at what winning the Greenbrier did for Jonas Blixt this past week. Blixt moved up 100 spots in the FedEx Cup standings from 139th to 39th. That would not only get in into the playoffs, but if he stayed there he would make it all the way to the second-to-last playoff event prior to the Tour Championship where the cut is the top-30. Some PGA Tour fans might be asking this week, ‘where’s Tiger?’
The AT&T National benefitting the Tiger Woods foundation is an annual stop on the PGA Tour at Congressional Country Club. But Woods actually won’t in the field this week, due to an elbow strain he suffered a few weeks back, and aggravated again in the U.S. Open. Woods is typically in the field, but his absence will be noticeable and disappointing.
We won’t see Woods compete until the 2013 British Open from Muirfield beginning on July 18th. That means that it will be roughly a month in between starts for the No.1 ranked player in the world, and back-to-back majors. That is of course unless he opts to change up his schedule to get a tournament in within these next couple of weeks, though unlikely. Continue reading
It was another U.S. Open, and another disappointment for Phil Mickelson. After holding the 54-hole lead overnight, Mickelson tabbed a U.S. Open record sixth runner-up finish, losing out to Justin Rose, who won his first-career Major Championship.

It’s one of the most exciting weeks of the year for golf fans, with the 2013 U.S. Open set to get underway from Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. The USGA has the course ready to go, and the players are gathering on site ready to tackle the challenges that are sure to come their way all week long.
For bettors, a Major championship always comes out with more than a typical tournament we see on the PGA Tour. That means we can expect to see a bunch of different lines leading up to the start of the round on Thursday, all the way through the final round on Sunday. Continue reading
Golf is a game that gets the best of even the greatest players in the world. And in the case of the 2013 Memorial Tournament this past week, arguably the greatest golfer ever. Coming into the event as a winner of four of his last seven PGA Tour stroke play events, and a five-time champion at the tournament, Tiger Woods looked like he was virtually unstoppable.

Tiger Woods has already won four times in 2013, and will be on the course this week for the playing of the 2013 Memorial Tournament as the defending champion. Not only that, it will be the last event before he gets ready to play the U.S. Open in two weeks. In fact, this will be the last event for most of the top players in the world, as they get ready to take on Muirfield Village Golf Club before tackling Merion.
It will be a stacked field this week for Jack Nicklaus’ event, with a total of 120 players teeing it up on Thursday. Continue reading
Anyone who follows the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL, and golf, knows that quarterback Tony Romo is an avid golfer. And not only that, he is a very good golfer. Romo has a decorated history with winning amateur tournaments. Not bad considering that he also happens to play quarterback for arguably the most popular NFL franchise in history.
But this year, Romo has decided to dial his golf schedule back in the offseason. This most noticeably includes his decision to skip out on 2013 U.S. Open qualifying, as well as trying to qualify for the HP Byron Nelson Championship which was held last week on the PGA Tour. It’s been a golf course that Tiger Woods never had much success in trying to tame. Sure, he had one victory back in 2001 at TPC Sawgrass for the PLAYERS Championship, but in the 12 years since it was lackluster. That all changed this week, as Woods captured the 2013 PLAYERS Championship by two shots.
It was Woods’ 78th victory in his 300th start. Coincidentally, Woods won on his 100th start on the PGA Tour, as well as his 200th. The win also puts him just four wins behind the all-time PGA Tour wins mark of 82 set by Sam Snead. Continue reading
