Golf has long been called a gentleman’s game, and a game played on the highest level of honesty. The same can be said for those who work around the game as well. That was never more evident than when a story came out earlier this week down in Miami Beach, Florida when a worker found a bag full of money on a golf course.

Every golfer dreams of winning a Major Championship. For Graeme McDowell, that dream was realized with his victory at the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. But what most golfers don’t think about is the adjustment period that comes after a huge win like that. In other words, winning a Major changes a player’s life, and it’s not easy to get back into the same swing of things.

If you have ever walked the hallowed grounds at Augusta National Golf Club for the Masters, then it is likely that you understand the feelings I am talking about in this post. Despite the fact most all of us will never play in the Masters, as a golf fan you can’t help but feel a special connection with the tournament.
I had the fortunate pleasure of going to the 2007 Masters, though I didn’t make a tournament round. I went on a Tuesday practice round, which when going to tournaments, I generally prefer the practice rounds as it is. They are less crowded, and the players are more at ease. Continue reading
It started back several decades ago with Jack Nicklaus, when he placed the emphasis on winning Major championships over other tournaments. Whether that’s right or wrong is beside the point, because that is just the way it is now. That especially became true when Tiger woods came on to the season, and focused entirely on winning Majors.
Now, even the Majors have bought into it, knowing that golfers dedicate their entire year to peaking four times.

Most of the time on this blog we talk about the last event and happenings on the PGA Tour, but it’s time to give the ladies some love. In particular, one lady who is having an incredible start to the 2013 LPGA Season, becoming the new No.1 ranked player in the world.
American Stacy Lewis was the 2012 Rolex Player of the Year on the LPGA, and came into 2013 with some momentum.
After a win in Singapore a couple of week ago, Lewis followed that up with a win in Arizona for the second-straight event.
The victory vaulted her from No.3 to No.1, dethroning Yani Tseng’s reign at the top of the Rolex Rankings. Tseng was No.1 in the world for more than two years, culminating in 109 weeks at the top. Continue reading
Tiger Woods has certainly dominated his fair share of venues in his career, and none more so than when he goes to Bay Hill.
The PGA Tour rolls through Orlando this week for the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where woods is a seven-time winner and the defending champion. Though unlike last year when he came in searching for his first victory in more than two years, Woods has won four times since that victory last year.
Two of those wins have come early in this season, back at Torrey Pines in the end of January, and the WGC Cadillac Championship two weeks ago. Continue reading
