Odds To Win 2012 AT&T National

Congressional Country Club is one of the premiere golf courses in the United States, and the PGA Tour moves to this venue this week for the playing of the AT&T National.

Tiger Woods is the big header coming into the week, but not just to win the tournament. Actually, AT&T National is a big week for Woods and his charity, the Tiger Woods Foundation. So you can bet Woods will be very prevalent around these Congressional grounds.

When it comes to the tournament beginning on Thursday, Woods leads the way on the odds to win AT&T National. The No.4 ranked player in the world is going off at 5/1 to win at Congressional, which is well ahead of the next-closest favorite on the betting line.

Hunter Mahan and Dustin Johnson are the two players right behind Woods on the betting line. Mahan comes in at 12/1, while Johnson sits at 16/1. Mahan fired a 9-under par round of 61 this past Sunday at the Travelers Championship, which will no doubt build some confidence coming into this week.

But the focus of this tournament will obviously be centered around one player. And that is of course Woods.

We are all interested to see how he rebounds from a very disappointing finish to the week at the U.S Open. Years ago, it was almost unthinkable that we would see Woods blow a 36-hole lead in a tournament, let alone a Major Championship.

And while the result at Olympic Club was surprising, it wasn’t really shocking. We’ve seen Woods play poorly on the weekends over the last season. But it does appear he is playing more consistent, and a victory this week would further solidify that.

Especially with the British Open and PGA Championship still to be played, Woods has the opportunity at two more Major championships in 2012. The British is coming up in a few weeks, and you know that he will want to be firing on all cylinders going into that already named the favorite.
